Storyline/Plot

The Presley family moves into a run-down fixer-upper in Chicago in search of a new beginning, but they quickly learn there’s a catch: Ernest the spirit lives in the attic (David Harbour). Despite Ernest’s efforts to frighten his teenage son Kevin (Jahi Winston), the disengaged, music-obsessed teen quickly recognizes this trapped soul from the 1970s as a kindred spirit and decides to assist him. While this is going on, Kevin’s genial yet strict father Frank (Anthony Mackie) wants to capitalize on Ernest by making him famous on social media.

When Frank’s video of Ernest goes viral and draws attention from all over the world, the family comes to the attention of Dr. Leslie Monroe (Tig Notaro), a disillusioned paranormal researcher who alerts her former boss, CIA Deputy Director Arnold Schipley (Steve Coulter), reviving a covert program to capture a ghost. It’s up to Kevin and his witty, fellow outcast neighbor Joy (Isabella Russo) to free Ernest, solve the mysteries of his past, and give him the closure he needs before it’s too late as crowds, reporters, and government officials swarm the Presley house.
